Taranaki Referees

Taranaki Community Rugby Trust is thrilled to announce it has renewed its sponsorship deal for the Taranaki Rugby Referees Association for another 2 years. TCRT & TRRA have recently got underway a referee recruitment video project which involves a series of video clips scripted by Haydn Jones and starring Conrad Smith, Warick Lahmert and Chloe Sampson. The campaign launched in March and there has already been amazing feedback since the story was profiled on Seven Sharp. Check out our Facebook page for these videos.

Preparations for the season is already underway for the TCRT referees. Training and development sessions have started with the club season set to get underway at the end of March where the referees will proudly wearing the TCRT jersey. In the earlier part of the year, several Taranaki referees have been involved in the international and Super Rugby competitions. Paul Williams refereed France v Wales in the opening round of the Six Nations and was an assistant referee for two other matches and Richard Kelly was the TMO for Ireland v England and Scotland v Ireland games. These two have also been involved in Super Rugby. Warwick Lahmert made his debut in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition as a referee and also was an assistant referee for the first time in the Blues v Brumbies match. Congratulations, Warwick. Chloe Sampson is also in the Super Rugby Aupiki circuit and has been involved in international sevens tournaments around the world.
